REMARKS BY HER EXCELLENCY DOROTHY SAMALI HYUHA AT THE FAREWELL CEREMONY OF MR. MULONDO JOSHUA MINISTER COUNSELLOR, AT THE CHANCERY MARCH 14, 2025

1 - Ladies and gentlemen, especially the diaspora, thank you for joining the embassy team in bidding farewell to Minister Counsellor Joshua Mulondo.
2 - Foreign service officers are posted abroad and, upon duty completion, return to headquarters for further instructions. Therefore, we are to congratulate Minister Counsellor Joshua Mulondo on his successful tour completion.
3 - Assignments
Since November 2021, Minister Counsellor Mulondo has led the Diaspora Affairs Desk, achieving several notable successes including:
- Coordinating Ugandan Independence celebrations in Canberra (2022), Adelaide (2023), New Zealand (2024), and Perth (2025).
- Bringing ID registration, EAC passport applications, and dual citizenship services closer to the diaspora in collaboration with the consular desk.
- Creating WhatsApp groups for communication across states and countries in the Pacific region.
- Organizing Zoom meetings to connect the diaspora with investment agencies for national development.
- Mobilizing attendance for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diaspora Convention 2024 under the theme “Diaspora for Socio-Economic Transformation”.
4 - Appreciation to Minister Counsellor Mulondo:
Please join me in extending our sincere appreciation to Minister Counsellor Joshua Mulondo for his diligent service as Minister Counsellor and Head of the Diaspora Desk. He has demonstrated exceptional hard work, determination, patriotism, and teamwork. His contributions have significantly advanced the Mission's mandate in Australia and accredited areas.
5 - Appreciation to the diaspora:
I deeply appreciate your participation in Uganda National Days, Women's Day commemorations, and efforts in mobilizing investors and tourists to Uganda.
Your cooperation is highly valued by my staff and me, and we encourage your continued support.
6 - Upcoming Event:
The Mission plans to host a Culture and Tourism Open Day in Canberra. We are committed to promoting Uganda’s culture and tourism within our accredited regions. As preparations are ongoing, we request your support in:
- Attendance: Once the time, date, and venue are announced, please attend with family, friends, colleagues, and associates.
- Participation: Engage in activities such as games, dances, and sharing Ugandan food, beverages, and snacks.
- Assistance: Offer help if approached by staff regarding the event.
