THE INAUGURAL MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS DIASPORA CONVENTION, 17TH -20TH DECEMBER 2024, KAMPALA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) invites Ugandan Diaspora in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and the Pacific region to the above convention which will take place December 17th - 20th 2024 in Kampala, Uganda under the theme, “Diaspora for Social-Economic Development”.
Whereas Ugandan diaspora community in all sectors are invited, those that particularly work under the following categories are encouraged to participate in the convention:
- Those holding positions in the governments of their host countries at all levels, including managerial.
- Professionals in Universities, Research Centres, Hospitals, UN Staff and other International Organizations.
- Specialists in the private sector such as ICT and Technology – Microsoft, Google, the Silicon Valley Tech Industry, Transport Sector and Engineering/Manufacturing etc.
- Agro-Industry, including Agripreneurship and the Tourism Industry.
The event will start with field visits to Murchison Falls, Oil field in Hoima and Buliisa District, Namanve Industrial Zones, Agricultural Research Centres and ICT Hubs on 17th and 18th December 2024, for the delegation to appreciate and determine potentials areas for investment in their economic sector of interest. The actual in-door program will be held on 19th and 20th December 2024, at Commonwealth Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala.
The convention will be opened by H.E the Vice President of Uganda and Closed by H.E the President of the Rep. Uganda. To facilitate smooth interaction and discussions with H.E the President, delegates are encouraged to bring along videos depicting their knowledge/expertise and ideas that they wish the country to pick on and usher the country into the 21st World.
Delegates will also be encouraged to record videos during the field visits in Uganda to inform the audience where they would invest, and/or to point out areas where improvement is needed to poise the visited places for appropriate investment (especially in the oil fields and industrial parks.
Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) will actively participate and make presentations on a wide range of subjects on particular interest to the Diaspora as well as international organisations.
This invitation is strictly based on a spirit of good will and patriotism, and delegates will be expected to meet their flight /transport costs to Uganda as a gesture of giving back to the motherland. The Ministry will not make any financial refunds, be responsible for insurance costs or any incidentals committed in the name of the Ministry and this event.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide meals and tea during the entire program and might be able to:
- Provide accommodation around Kampala, for delegates that come from outside the city (this will be confirmed in writing very soon).
- Arrange pick-up from the airport especially where delegates arrive in groups on particular flights, whose details will have been availed in advance.
