1. REGISTRATION FOR NATIONAL ID CARDS
 
National ID registration is strictly by appointment only.
 
Appointment slots will be Monday to Friday between 09.30am - 1.00pm with some waiting time expected.
  
All applicants must be 18yrs and above and are required to bring a hard copy of their valid Ugandan E-Passport (no photo copies accepted) and proof of Dual Citizenship if applicable.
Applicants should also provide a copy of their parents National IDs if they are alive. 
 
When you arrive for your appointment you will receive the relevant application form. Applicants will also have their biometrics taken on the day.
 
 
All applicants must have the following information to handover to register for a National ID:

- Your place of residence in Uganda (you need to know your District, County, Sub-County, Parish/Ward and Village)

- Your place of birth in Uganda (you need to know your District, County, Sub-County, Parish/Ward and Village)

- Your place of origin in Uganda (you need to know your District, County, Sub-County, Parish/Ward and Village)

- If you have a spouse, you need to provide their names, National ID number if they have one, place of marriage, date of marriage and type of marriage.

- Your Father's names (whether alive or deceased)

- Your Father's place of residence (last known residence if deceased) (you need to know your Father's District, County, Sub-County, Parish/Ward and Village)

- Your Father's place of origin (you need to know your Father's District, County, Sub-County, Parish/Ward and Village)

- Your Mother's names (whether alive or deceased)

- Your Mather's place of residence (last known residence if deceased) (you need to know your Mother's District, County, Sub-County, Parish/Ward and Village)

- Your Mother's place of origin (you need to know your Mother's District, County, Sub-County, Parish/Ward and Village)

- Your Father's tribe and clan

- Your Mother's tribe and clan

 If you come to your appointment not knowing the above information, registration will not be able to take place.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
 
Question: I applied for my National ID from your offices and yet my name is not on the list?
Answer: Your ID is therefore not ready for collection from our offices. Keep checking the website or contact NIRA directly. If in Uganda you can visit their Kampala Central Offices at Lumumba Avenue. 
 
Question: Are National ID cards printed at the Embassy?
Answer: No. All National ID data captured during registration is sent to Kampala for verification and printing.
 
Question: Can my National ID card be sent to me in the post?
Answer: No. Applicants must appear in person to collect their National ID.
 
Question: How much is a National ID?
The National ID is free for all those registering for the first time!
